dr. sc. Jelka Zorn

Dr. sc. Jelka Zorn (Ljubljana, 1971) gained her M.A. in 2001 from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. She defended her Ph.D. thesis in 2003 at the same university. For the thesis she received an award from the Foundation of professor Klinar in 2004. Since 1999, she has been employed at the Faculty for Social Work, University of Ljubljana, currently as an associate professor, where she lectures different courses on ethnic minorities, refugeeness, social movements, (global) inequalities, social work etc. She was a guest researcher at several European universities (Central European University, University of Stirling, Oxford University on several occasions). As a lecturer and researcher, she extensively collaborated with the Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis and the Peace institute in Ljubljana. She participated in numerous research projects, such as Social Work and Social Cohesion: Dilemmas of Autonomous and Heteronomous System Regulations (Slovenian Public Research Agency, ARRS, 2008 – 2011); Statelessness and the Benefits of Citizenship: a Comparative Study (Geneva Academy Project, Oxford Brookes University, 2008 – 2009); Ethnicity in Social Work Education (Austrian Research Foundation, AOS, 2007 – 2006). She regularly publishes articles about the history of social care, asylum, migrations, citizenship in Slovenia, in particular about the Erased. The latter are in the focus of her co-authored book Izbrisani: organizirana nedolžnost in politike izključevanja (2003), as well as several other books and collections she co-authored and co-edited.
