dr. sc. Iva Pleše

Dr. sc. Iva Pleše (Rijeka, 1971) graduated in Comparative Literature and Ethnology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, in 1997. She gained her M.A. (2005) and Ph.D. (2010) from the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Since 2001, she has worked at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, currently as a research associate. She authored the book Pismo, poruka, mejl: etnografija korespondencije (2014) and was a co-editor for two research collections: Etnografije interneta (2004) and Proizvodnja baštine: kritičke studije o nematerijalnoj kulturi (2013). She is the author or co-author of numerous research and professional articles in the field of ethnography of refugeeness, methodology of ethnology and fieldwork in ethnology, ethnography of writing and correspondence, and production of heritage. She collaborated on two projects funded by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sport: Ethnography of the Contemporary Everyday Life and Processes of Identification (2002 – 2006) and Contemporary Crisis Flows and Formation of Communities and Identities (2007 – 2013) and the project Croatian Intangible Cultural Heritage, social identities and values (2012 – 2014) funded by the Croatian Science Foundation. Since 2016, she has been an research associate for the project Ethnography of Refugeeness: the Croatian Context funded by the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research. She lectured at the Department for Art and Restauration of the University of Dubrovnik (2010/2011 – 2012/2013). She was a member of the editorial board of the research journal Etnološka tribina (2012 – 2016) and one of the editors of the publication Nova etnografija (2016 – 2018) of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research. She is a member of the Croatian Ethnological Society. She was the president of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research scientific council (2014/2015), and a council member for several mandates. She was the editor of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research website (2003 – 2006).
